Security Alarm Systems

Alarm systems are widely used all over to guard all types of property, significantly reducing the chances of a break-in. Security alarm systems used in both domestic and commercial premises are a combination of detectors and motion sensors, but it is wise not to use the latter alone as it cannot detect exterior intrusions. In Scotland a home security system consists of a control panel, keypad, siren, motion detector, door and window contacts, and a central monitoring station, which will notify the owner in case of a break-in, depending on what has been set up. Smoke detectors, glass break detectors, panic buttons, pressure mats for under rugs, CCTV to allow monitoring and/or recording inside or outside a home and alarm screens for windows are additional gadgets which can be added to the system. Many security companies supply these gadgets free, if they are given long term monitoring contracts.

Burglar Alarm System Types

Alarm systems were generally hard wired however the advances of wireless technology has greatly improved and now wireless devices are as stable as hardwired equivalents with long life battery power making them a very attractive alternative.
